Petitioning Nottinghamshire County Council

Retford United is a club which prides itself on being a part of the community of Retford. As such, Cannon Park has long been a pivital venue for people who have little or no ties to the football club, outside of the call many of us understand on a Saturday afternoon. Birthdays, wedding receptions, social clubs, and others all make use of the venue on a regular basis. This is all of course in addition to the footballing activities it plays host to, ranging from the First Team through all manner of youth teams.

And lest we forget, Leverton Road isn't used solely by people seeking to gain access to Cannon Park. It is a popular thoroughfare used by drivers, joggers, dog walkers, cyclists and many others. All of them are risking life and limb everytime they venture off the paved section of Leverton Road.

As such, we feel that the time has come for Nottinghamshire County Council to honour some of the pledges they make on their website. If you agree, why not download a petition below, and show NCC that citizen safety isn't a footballing matter. That they should act now to protect they seek to serve, and not wait until an accident forces their hand.

The Retford Times have recently covered our petition.
